Orange Blossom #1480: President's Circle Meeting at Casa Romantica

The Board of Directors from the Casa hold an annual event to thank everyone that donated at least $1,000 or more to the Casa in the past year. Our Orange County Blossoms Chapter 1480 was recognized for the $5,000 California Questers grant that was awarded last year for the renovation of the gold leaf gilding and the chandelier medallion in Mrs. Ole Hanson’s bedroom at the Casa.

We had 11 of our 13 members present that evening and many of the supporters of the Casa thanked us for our support of this beautiful historical site. We accepted the plaque that will be displayed in Mrs. Ole Hanson’s bedroom and at the same time, we presented the President of the Board of Director’s a check in the amount of $1,000 from the proceeds of our first fundraiser. The funds will be put to very good use on additional renovation at the Casa Romantica.

Greg Ann Hinshaw, President of our chapter is shown in the first picture accepting the plaque and the next two pictures are of our group at the Casa that night. A story about our chapter was printed in the local San Clemente paper on July 3, 2012.

Heritage Reflections #952 Fund Raiser: The Hat You Would Have Worn to the Royal Wedding- October 29, 2011

Chapter Members in Royal Wedding Hats

On October 29 th Heritage Reflections Questers, located in the beautiful Santa Clarita Valley, held a fund raiser called, “The Hat You Would Have Worn to the Royal Wedding.”

There was a hat decorating contest with many outstanding entries. A judge awarded prizes for Most Beautiful, Most Festive, Most Humorous, Most Classic, Most Original, and Most Functional. Visitors to the fundraiser bought tickets to vote and the Most Popular prize was determined by the guests.

In addition to the hats that were decorated for the contest, there were vintage hats on display, mostly from the collections of two Heritage Reflections members.

Women like to shop –so visitors were able to browse and shop to their heart’s content. A large number of truly remarkable hats were available to buy; a general store offered enticing collectibles; a bake sale had lots of cookies, cup cakes, jams and soup mixes; and a lovely lunch was provided. Round tables covered with lace cloths and center pieces with a fall theme were set up for lunch.

The fund raiser was held in the large hall at William S. Hart Park. The view of the gardens through the floor to ceiling windows was lovely with the sun slanting through the trees onto the green grass, shrubs and many flowers.

Heritage Reflections members worked very hard and were gratified at the success of the event, and the wonderful time had by all who attended.

Hats and More Hats!
